There was a protest going past soon after we left our apartment. I got really scared. We sheltered in a shop from the rain and the protesters.
The police had riot shields... But they used them as umbrellas!
It was cold and wet, but Mum and Dad still found lots to take photos of. I tried to stay dry.
Window shopping...
Tee hee!
I was getting hungry!
We stopped at a warm cafe by the Rialto Bridge for some yummy cake and warm drinks.
Can you see all the people in their rain coats?
We walked through the streets to the Piazza San Marco, where we were going to join a walking tour and gondola ride.
There are so many shops selling masks and puppets. I LOVE the masks!
The walking tour was really bad. We couldn't hear much, but dad learned a new pose from an American girl... He used it a lot.
OMG! I don't know what the other people on the gondola thought, but he was making me mad!
In the end we were all doing it... Even a total stranger joined in!
Anyway... back to the gondola ride.
Luckily, the sun came out.
After the gondola ride we explored some more around Venice. We saw a Francis Bacon exhibition and this amazing picture.
It is made up of thousands of painted eggs. Isn't it cool?!
We stayed out till late. It was very dark, but the moon lit up the piazza.
Bands were playing outside cafes....
I danced with dad...
Views from the Rialto Bridge at night.
P.S. Mum and Dad took over 500 photos today!!!!!!
