Yodeling in the mountains

Wednesday 5 October

This morning we had to be up earlier than usual because we were joining an organized tour in Lucerne and the bus was leaving at 9.30am and we weren't going to be back until 6.30 or 7pm. A long day to come. The bus took us to Interlaken where we caught our first train.

The tour took us up to the mountains and we got to go to the top of the Jungfrau. It is about 13,000 feet high.

A train takes you all the way to the top of the mountain and actually goes through it. We took several trains to get to the top.

It was exciting and fantastic to see all the snow and the beautiful views.

We stopped in the mountain to look out of windows cut into it.

The view from the top of the Jungfrau was amazing. I loved walking on the icy snow.

We went in the ice castle and saw lots of images carved out off ice. I thought I might slip over but I was ok.

The guide, Kid, was funny but not everyone thought so. He kept taking our camera and taking shots. It was good to have photos of all of us- that doesn't happen often. I wasn't very happy about this photo being taken.

We did several walks around the top. Each view was lovely.

On the way down we saw a small avalanche.

Though it was a lovely day today, Kid told us that over the weekend they expected the temperature to drop to about 8 degrees and they expected snow at 800 feet. WOW!

It was a lovely day. I yodeled and saw cows with bells.
